Management Impact
The Marine Science Programme seeks to maximise
the visibility, accessibility and useability of all data
collected by the project teams going back to the
programme’s inception in 2017.
The programme has partnered with the
Harvard Data Repository to create a data
collection using their Dataverse system. With
sub-collections for each project team and a
federated approach to the management of the
datasets this new system allows us to both store
and manage large quantities of data of all kinds
but also to auto-harvest searchable information
on those data that are already published
elsewhere, without the need to move those data
or to re-enter meta-data manually.
The Marine Science Programme dataverse is
now up and running and the teams are working
through the final year of the programme to load
all data onto it, where it can act as a resource for
science and conservation into the future.
