A particularly significant development was the
partnership with the Harvard Data Repository to create
a programme-wide collection of all data collected and
recorded throughout the lifetime of the programme.
The repository was developed and launched allowing
for the storage and management of diverse and large
quantities of published and unpublished data, as well
as providing a central point of reference to increase
the access and use of the data.
In March 2024, a programme meeting was held for
the first time in five years, and the first time in the
Indian Ocean region, on the island of Dhiffushi in
the Maldives. Scientists from across the programme
came together to share results and progress on
their projects and work collaboratively. Through a
series of workshops, new ideas for research across
disciplines and geographies were developed, as well
for collaborative papers between scientists from
different projects with different research backgrounds.
The event highlighted the importance of creating
opportunities for the team to meet in-person.

Data sharing has been an important aspect of work
with the Mauritius government in 2024, as they
developed marine spatial plans for the Chagos
Archipelago linked to the bilateral sovereignty
negotiations with the UK. Providing publications,
data and access to relevant experts has equipped
governments with the best information to inform
decision making.
